Photoshop CS3 the new Workstation : Review

In the latest update of the adobe team, they have got several goodie packs and new features for the Photoshop, you will find that many of your favorite steps of editing are now even more simplified now, and the new core is now possible to utilize the resources in more efficient way, and the multi core and 64 bit users will definitely feel the boost. And the CS3 has got a good new s for Mac users too, now the designer’s favorite tool is totally compatible with Mac . So here is the detailed review of all new features and updates:

Computer Requirements

Well to run this software smoothly a preferred Configuration would be at least an P4 processor, (Dual core recommended), and a stable OS like Windows XP sp2 and above

A graphic processing unit, with memory of 64 megabyte, and ram above 384 mb is highly recommended

Interface

First thing you will notice after installing the software is the logo, you will notice that the old’ ‘ Feather’ carried by most Photoshop version has vanished here instead of that what you will get is an glossy Blue Background with Ps written on it, simple and neat

Now the main interface as you can see CS3 version has got a new interface which is smarter & Intuitive they have added a new feature-every palette can now be docked up so that you can now save up some valuable are by simply clicking on an arrow given above every palette

Main toolbar has bee renovated too now as you can see the tool bar can now be put on into one single line (What’s the use? well that mean more area for image and simplified toolbar) if you still want to stuck with the old layout, easy just click on the button at the top of the tool bar

 

And for the tools there are two new features added

• Quick selection tool

This tool gives rest to all users willing to elect some part of image

This intelligent toll does the job the similar way as a normal brush does just simply brush it over the area you want to be selected and whoa it will detect the area and select it for you

• Change Screen Mode

Now this is the feature which would be appreciated by every user located at the bottom of the tool box it gives a direct shortcut to sweep between the screen modes

• Standard
• Maximized
• Full screen with menu
• Full screen without Menu

And you can do this by simply pressing the ‘f’ key on the key board

Then you can find out that many workspace presets have been given to change the layout to anything that suits you

Now the menus’ everything is same here except under the File menu will find that

Save for web is now ‘Save for web and Devices’ that means now Photoshop allows you to optimize the images for the hand held devices to access these just open the Device Central from File menu or from the bottom right of the ‘Save for web and devices’ Dialogue box and you will be amazed to see ho many customization are there like you can adjust the image and simulate the actual conditions you will be using the image

Then there is Smart filter it’s actually an feature by which you can apply the effects from the filter gallery and change them later on or hide them same as it was for layer styles in older Versions

To use this simply navigate to filter menu and there

After that u can simply apply any effect from the filter gallery

There are few other updates in the menus

­­Like another important update is adding the ‘Refine Edge’ in the select menu this gives users a powerful and easy way to alter the selection and customize it to achieve sharp and Clear edges in your selection

Team Photoshop has really provided good stuff like adding a black and white option among the adjustment layers in the Layers palette, this is a really cool option, and it lets you get those professional effects which ere first limited to the advanced users only
