Firefox Reaches 500 Million Downloads
The Firefox Web Browser is undeniably one of the most preferred browsers by internet users around the world. To prove it, Mozilla recently recorded 500 million downloads of its popular web browser. This is definitely a milestone for the open-source program whose creation was overseen by Mozilla in partnership with a large number of outside programmers. The web browser market, which had previously been dominated by Microsoft Internet Explorer, is definitely becoming more mature with their preference.
This is because while IE (Internet Explorer) is user-friendly, many believe that it is not as secure as the Firefox browser. Aside from this, people find that Firefox has a lot more features compared to Microsoft Internet Explorer. It is really no wonder that Mozilla Firefox averages a monthly hit of around 20 million. These users come from all over the world.
Originally named as Phoenix in reference to “rising from the ashes” of Netscape open-source project, Firefox has certainly come a long way since its release. Right now, Mozilla is working on the Firefox version 3 which will provide better performance and interface changes to the browser. In addition, Mozilla is also developing a mobile version of this browser for handheld gadgets.
