Bad Advertisements
Ads can go bad. Just ask Neopet.com, they are the site that provides Flash games for pre-teens. When asked about the racy ads that appear on their website, they stated that they would never accept these kinds of ads. It was the result of an adware or another malware program that infiltrated their network. The “malicious” software might have been a program that hijacks search results but so far, Neopet.com cannot distinguish which malicious program is actually responsible for these incidents.
However, the explanation that the ads appeared as a result of a malicious program is unheard of. This is because it is quite difficult for these “adware” ads to replace legitimate ads on the website. It would have to fit the shape, the size, the formatting, and the host of the particular website in order to do this. Now, it will take a lot of work for this to become possible and we’re not talking about the expense associated with this yet.
In addition, the two add-ons in Firefox actually let the computer users decide which kind of adds they like to see. The “nonscript” feature has the ability to block more of the ads and Flash advertisements unless the user allows this feature to appear.
